It is an honor to participate in the ongoing efforts toward Rohingya language literacy and preservation. These books were developed using the version of Rohingyalish as announced by the honorable Engineer Mohammed Siddique Basu in November 2023. This includes removing the ñ to mark nasalized vowels and instead marking the vowels themselves (ã, ẽ, ĩ, õ, ũ). It also includes replacing dh with ḍ, th with ṭ, and ç with ṛ.

These writing system adaptations have been tested among Rohingya readers in several countries in diaspora and found to be easy and exciting for emerging readers to use. We recognize that Rohingya literacy efforts are an ongoing process as we continue developing resources with the community. If you have any feedback for  this or future resources, please contact us.
